Why not just inquire about his hobbies and interests, then get him a gift? You've got time, I assume, to do that.

When it's coming up Christmas or birthdays, I always find out from the parents what my nephews are into, then I get them gifts based on that. It always works.

Ask the parents. They'll know what the kid is into, and chances are, you'll end up getting the perfect gift and scoring some points in the "most coolest uncle" contest. ;) Well, that is, unless you're the only uncle!

A bike, scooter, skateboard, or skates. Just keep him active.

Koffee, thanks, but I usually get him something by walking around Target or a toy store asking kids his age what they like. He never expects it and loves it. I'm feeling ill, so I'm hoping to get y'all do my leg work this year :D

Dan, man, my nephew's got those things. His latest toy of interest is an industrial size pogo-stick... gets some good height.

I got my newphew a football and basketball and he loved it. I don't know if he is active like this but you can never go wrong with this kind of stuff. If he is more of a inside kind of guy, maybe some video games or something along that line. Good Luck!!!

Thanks!

I need something unique tho, cuz he's got nearly everything a kid could want. He's got two game console systems (PS & N) and lots of games. He's got just about every outdoor toy/gear. He plays soccer and does TKD... he's out like a light every night ~8:30pm and sleeps for ~10 hours. He must burn 80,000 calories a day.

Lord of the Ring (movies)
Harry Potter (movies or books)
A 16 year old girlfriend. HEE HEE
Magic stuff (games and such)
Gift Certifcate to the Mall
If he skis maybe a weekend lift ticket

Does he have a soccer goal? This would enable him and a friend or relative to practice scoring and goalkeeping. Great for hours of fun!

What about some sparring gear or a new uniform for TKD? Or some sort of stable target, like the water filled base punching and kicking bags....

Just thinking out loud.

BB gun or sling-shot.

A drum set will really piss off his parents.

Some other friends said and I quote, "Get him a 13 yo g/f... it's time for him to learn to dry hump."

(ironically enough, his uncle started about that age with a 13 yo... probably explains my love of older women)

Not at home, that's a great idea!

I still say talk to the parents. He would have told them plenty of times the things he would love to have, and they could transfer those thoughts to you. It's not like you'll be getting something he can already get- ask about the things he's been asking for but the parents have said no because of finances or something like that. It's better than that other stuff. For instance, my older nephew loves Playstation and Nintendo, but he also LOVES dinosaurs... something I wasn't aware of. He wants to be a paleontologist and loves anything about dinosaurs. Plus, he really does love cycling too, so I got him videos about dinosaurs and an autographed Tyler Hamilton poster, plus the "6" kit from the Lance Armstrong parade when he returned to Austin after winning the Tour de France. He loved it.... didn't even say a word about Nintendo or Playstation. The other kid loves Spiderman, so I got him a full spiderman suit and the spiderman Playstation game. I wouldn't have ever thought they would like that stuff- I'd get them Harry Potter or something like that (and I found out they HATE Harry Potter).

Ask the parents.
