So I'm thinking... I go around Lake Monona every day. Maybe I should go over it instead. Here's some pics (they're large)

Sweet!
I wish our river would freeze over completely... It would cut at least 2km from my ride!
:) Wow, thats nice, ya if I cut over Lake Monona, it would save me lots of time, but I hate that wind.
Gorgeous!!......but do I detect liquid? .....or just uneven ice? :o
The roads are getting narrower and narrower, so I was going to try this today. Unfortunately, I failed to realize that the same snow that is on the roads is on the ice too.
Also there was a fault line and ice "mountain range" leading right to the Monona Terrace. I wish I would have had a camera, because I thought it was quite impressive.
We just got dumped on here in Boston. I have other photos up on the SS/fixed forum but wanted to post this one here.
Yucky factory! I feel bad for ya'll midwesterns and easterners. It has been beautiful here in CO and we've have high fifties forecasted for a week!
Wow, lotta Madison folks on here. I wonder if I see any of you day to day.
Yeah, there's too much snow to easily go over the lake now. The wind does get bad, but not much worse than it is going up John Nolen between the lake and the bay.
The fault line and ice mountain range have been growing. I got some pics of it the other day. I saw one that was really high. I was going to get out on the ice and take a pic of the sunrise through the ice, but I was a little late for work.
I didn't realize there were so many Madison folk here.

Why is it that everytime I visit family in Tucson, friends in Boulder CO or just meet people from the west they always feel sorry for people on the east coast because of the weather? We don't feel bad for ourselves. that's why we are were we are. I grew up in AZ and it's beautiful. So is CO. I guess you could say it's pitiful and depressing to have to ride to work across the Brooklyn bridge every morning when its 15 degrees outside. But I personally cannot imagine a better way to start the day - anywhere I've been in this country. (Including the ride along 72 up to Wondervu outside Boulder I did last Fall)
