Fifty Plus (50+) - Bike Recomendation?

While I was out over the weekend on a ride throught the Willamette Valley wine country some miscreant broke into my house and among the things stolen was my Giant Sedona bike. I need to replace it and am looking for recomendations for other bikes in that comfort range. I use that one for riding around with the grandkids on a gravel road.

Shop for a bike shop first. Interview the folks at all the bike shops in your area and find the one that you like dealing with most. Buy a brand they carry and you'll never go wrong.

As Retro said- The LBS is just as important as the eventual bike. In fact -even more so.

Also, Trek makes a similar model, used to be called the Navigator.

Yep. My dad was a burglary detective (LAPD) so I grew up with a keen awareness of it, but not until it happens in your own home do you know what it feels like. That was our second time and yes, we lock doors and take every sensible precaution.

I'd get a beater bike and then ride around my neighborhood and put up signs on every street corner pole about your stolen bike. Place an ad in Craigslist with a photo of the bike. Contact the local TV station and ask for help broadcasting your loss.

Go around to every pawn shop and leave them a flyer.

You want to make this as difficult to fence as possible and also possibly catch the attention of some parent or guardian that might see their child with the bike.

Probably more trouble than it's worth but I'd want to put the hurt on the kids that did it.

You should watch the local Craig's List for the bike. You would be surprised how many people find their stolen bike for sale on the list. Sorry about the loss, hope you find a good N+1 bike.

Thought about it and you have had a Sedona and liked the style. Plenty of other manufacturers making similar style and price of bike and bikes that will be ideal as an upgrade on that bike. Onee that has proved a favourite over the years is the Specialised Sirrus.

They start at a low spec and price but has proved to be ideal for us as a bike that rides well. Most manufacturers will cover this type of bike in their range so it just depends on the LBS that you settle on as to what make you get.
