We used to feed them to our tarantula. My ex wanted to start raising them for a steady food supply, but I said no to that. And it turned out that we had plenty of wild ones to meet the demand. ;)

I found a guy who has em for 500 for 25 bucks thats like a crazy low price from what ive seen but i dont have paypal

We had a feeder colony for our tarantulas for about a year, until my wife got tired of keeping up with them & flushed 'em. Now we just buy crickets from PetSmart. We started with 20-25, and soon had hundreds/thousands. I hated hearing them in the tub when it came time to feed the T's.

I have considered raising crickets to feed to our leopard gecko and maybe to sell to others in the neighborhood who have reptiles.

It's eerily fascinating to watch them feed. They grab it, puncture it and deflate it. It's like an arachnid sippy cup. Since we just had one tarantula, we just put the roach in her terrarium and let it enjoy its time as a dead roach scurrying.

I've thought about raising the dubia/lobster roaches. Right now I've been raising black soldier fly larvae and they're super easy...

Oh hell no! Go to the store and get a bag-o-crickets. Used to buy 50 a week to feed a big tarantula and a pair of chameleons (the real ones, not anoles) and also shoot a few to my big oscar. Kept the spare crickets in a small cage - stinky things. And ultimately one or two would escape and have a good time making noise at night. Now that's a cricket. Having a roach escape just begs for nasty future troubles!

Tude - Dubia/Lobster roaches are tropical roaches. They can't breed unless your house remains very hot and humid. Once they're out of the container you're raising them in they die very quickly.

About the easiest...I had mine in an aquarium filled with sand and a little bowl with a sponge in it then I put one of those half coconut shell things down. Fed him a few crickets a week, then cleaned out the dead cricket balls.

Funny thing, one morning I woke up and checked on the spider. There were two spiders in there, I started freaking out for a second until I realized he molted. So I just kept it to scare my kids and other people.

We don't feed ours as frequently as some people do. They can go a month or more between feedings. We once had a Pink Toe that went over a year w/o eating. We'd drop a half-dozen crickets in her tank every 3-4 weeks, and would have to pull them out a couple of days later, uneaten.

Some people will handle theirs, but we don't. They're not like cats or dogs, they don't enjoy being handled. We treat them more like fish.

How far did you smoke them down. (maybe this belongs in the boomer thread)

Once again let me say if you have a reptile that eats crickets u realy should switch to dubia there is no smell at all and cleaning there encloser to me like 1 minute tonight .and there so much better then crikcets for ya reptile

Yeah, but if you get caught by a cop, you can do time (or at least get a ticket) for buying roaches.
