Introductions - Hello from Buenos Aires, Argentina

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello guys! I and im introducing myself after posting quite a lot, sorry for that. I´m a 31 year old doctor from Buenos Aires, whos been riding since 1995. I love bikes, i had my good times and bad times, but even when I don´t ride a lot I miss it badly!
I started out with a 1992 Jamis Durango, dont have any pics of that one.
Then I moved on to a 1992 Cannondale Delta v 2000 on 1996.

Then i broke the frame trying some downhill and I got it replaced bu the 1997 Super V Active 100sl Frame. I couldnt believe it!

After that I had a Zenith Kuriaki. Zenith is a pretty popular MTB brand down here, the manufacture the frames in the same factories as Trek, Giant n stuff and have pretty decent Bikes.
Now my Wife and I have a nice fleet of MTB and Vintage bikes.

My wife´s Argyll, probably from the 70s. MAde from inported stuff and national frame in turbulent times were complete imports werent allowed(fake national industry, we have this here right now, we dont manufacture but brands must assemble here, so theres "insdustry")

This is my recent buy, a 1948 Raleigh, we are discussin what model it is on the forum, probably a handlebar swapped Lenton Sports. Its got a brand new Brooks B17 Slim in Dark Brown.

My actual Zenith Kuriaki, on a Easton Frame, Mavic Rims, Xtr/Xt stuff, Thompson Seatpost, Garmin Edge 705. Will this bike ride across the andes this summer? We´ll see!

1997 Cannondale F500. I bought this for my wife just today. It came to my local bike shop, pre owned but unused. It still has those little rubber pins on the original stock IRC tires. Who ever bought it took it from the show to a garage. And at a real cheap price so I´m so happy to have a Cannondale from the same year and paintjob as my Super V. As m wife said, its going back to an old girlfiend. I think shes right!

Hello Docbilly,
I read your post with interest and wanted to tell you about a series of short films we are making in Argentina, where we restore treasured possessions; either customising them or bringing them back to their original beauty and functionality. For this series we are looking for Argentinian women, aged 18-38 who have an item with an interesting history, they would like to have restored. We would really like to include an old/vintage bicycle in the series. (Subjects so far include a musical instrument, a statue being painted by an artist and an old film projector.) So I was wondering if your wife or anyone you know in BA or elsewhere in Argentina had an old bike with an interesting personal story. We will pay the chosen participant a fee, as well as pay the cost of the restoration, with a top bicycle restorer. We will be filming in Argentina in April so interested participants should contact me as soon as possible on:

Muchas gracias,
