I remember back in high schol and seeing all of the "good" bike guys...seems like alot of "Falcons" w/ Reynolds 531 frames. Picking them up, and wow were they light. I'm 55 now, and have at least in my normal fashion, ran out and bought what I thought was a good starter bike. Guess what brand?...Trek of course. Did no want one of those full , light road bikes, at least not yet. I want to get back in shape, have knee prob's from a Harley crash...so here I am wishing I would have researched more. Just got it, so I could take it back tomorrow, and test that Jamis I found through research I should have done up front. I am surprized at the low hiearchy of the Shimano Deurailers. Anyway...I may stick with the Trek FX 7.3. Any advice?

Hey Oneway,

Welcome to Bike Forums.

Take it back and get something with road drop bars.
Will give more hand position for longer rides.

Test ride a road bike.

I agree with 10 Wheels. I have a Trek 7.5 FX that I put almost 2000 miles on before I tried a road bike. I then concluded that a road bike would be much faster, more fun and easier to ride. The drop bars are really handy for keeping your hands from getting numb on long rides. I now have a Specialize Secteur road bike that I put 3600 miles on since last October and I love it. I still have the Trek and use it for going to the store (it has a rack and a kick stand) but would sell it if I could find someone that wants a 64cm hybrid.
