I am planning on going on a tour this summer and was thinking of raising money for charity. Money pledged per mile kind of thing. I am not interested in using the charity to fund my expenses, just trying to do a good thing while I do something for myself. Does anyone have any experience with this type of thing? How did you get started?

First of all before anything else.

a) What Charity
b) Contact the Charity directly explaining what you are going to do.

You'll need to do those things before anything else.

As long as every cent actually goes to the charity, I have no problem with people riding for charity. But sadly, I have seen people while section hiking on the Appalchian trail use charity money to support their dreams of hiking the trail and then give what is left over to the charity.

I hope this goes well for you.

Do you mean something like a MS 150 ride or Aids ride or will you be setting up your own tour?

I will be doing my own tour and hoping to raise a little money on the side for a charity.
