Are there any options that are really worth it when buying lenses. Coatings or whatever.

Scratch resistant lens (I only need glasses for close-in work, so they are on and off all the time)
Titanium frame (super lightweight, you hardly know they are on)

Real glass is worth the money. You would not accept plastic in one's camera lenses, don't accept less in your eyeglasses either.

Bought those Superman X-ray glasses out of the comic book when I was a kid.
No,you cannot see through women clothes either.

If there was one that kept smudges off mine, I'd be happy.

Mine have an "anti-glare" coating and something else. I don't know the difference since it's my first pair of glasses and I've had them since the start of July

You got the G rated ones, what with being a kid and all. Go buy an adult comic and order them again and then report back to us.

I love it when they try to charge extra for a UV coating on plastic lenses. ALL plastic lenses filter out UV rays.

Real glass is heavy and tiring to wear all day (unless you have 20/40 vision).

Go to high index refraction plastic for thinner lighter glasses.

If you are going to wear them all day, I like transition lenses.

But then I also have two pair... one for everyday all day wear with transition lenses and hi index plastic, the other pair are "computer glasses" that are "tuned" for my vision and monitor distance as I spend about 9+ hours a day in front of a computer.

I like titanium frames, but the cost is way up there.

the compressed lenses and the and fog coatings are worth it for me, it is really humid in the south

All neckties should have micro fiber backing for the express purpose of cleaning one's glasses.
At least then they would have a reason for being.

Speaking as someone who wears a tie every work day, this is the sort of political platform that I can support.

So where does on store the lens cleaning solution? I say a buottonniere, something simple, like a single carnation, that squirts lens cleaner.

Hoya Super Hi-Vision EX3 coating on Trivex lenses with Transitions VI brown.

If you have a really strong prescription, hi index of refraction lenses can save you a lot of weight and avoid the "coke bottle" look. More expensive, but if you
have to have them on your face most of the day, the cost is worth it. The optician will know if your prescription is doable in hi index of refraction lenses or not.

Get a UV coating to protect yourself from UV rays even when you aren't wearing sunglasses.

Unless your talking about glass lenses, ALL plastic lenses filter out 100% of UV rays. Paying for a special coating on plastic lenses is a scam.

My current set. I also have a set of hornrims. I wear this pair more often.
They are bifocals; the line is usually more evident than what shows up here.

You have a Spot on your glasses right over there.

Nike 9127 frames come with magnetic clip-on sunglasses - very cool & WAY cheaper than buying separate sunglasses. I wear my specs ALL the time, and like the transitions lenses... my husband prefers the rose-tinted ones. The "CRYZAL" lenses are pretty nice, too.

I got the Tranisitions treatment, and progressive bifocals to go with my regressive vision. Sadly, the x-ray option wasn't available to me.

I normally get NOTHING done to my glasses. The pair I have now required me to get every single option as a package to get the special they were promoting, so I gave in since it didn't cost me any extra.

I notice no differences at all. None.

Nomotor,We'll go half on an adult comic book and order 2 pairs of Superman X-ray glasses and sit at the local mall on Saturdays.
It's not too late yet:50:

The only add-on I swear by is the anti-reflection coating. An optician threw it in once and it made such a huge difference that I've paid for it ever since.
