Hello all.

I am looking for a bash guard to go with my new chain set which is a triple chain ring, largest being 42t.

The main reason I want a bash guard this time round is because my other chain set has a bent middle ring and slightly bent on the 42t due to there being no protection and my clumsy riding.

However, I cannot find a 42t+ bash guard at a realistic price. All I can find is these insane designs at £80+. Trying to keep my budget low at the moment.

Does any one have any recommendations?

Try BBG bashguards, they're relatively cheap at ~$20.

Thanks for that.

Could I ask, what would be more appropriate to protect the 42t, a 42t or a 44t bash guard?

You can't find a 42t bash guard, as no one really needs them.

If you look at riders using bash guards, they have dumped the outer chain ring, and replaced it with a bash guard, you really would need a 4 ring crank to put on a 42t or larger bash ring, and these aren't a product which is made.

You can pick up a Hope Bashguard (32-34t / 36-38t or 40t) for less than £35, most good bikes shops will stock Hope, for online, just about everyone stocks it, for local to you, go to Ken Ellerker, and talk to them about what you want.

I see.

Makes sense. Was just pondering the idea of them this morning. I tend to ride my 42t the most as I use my bike for commuting as well as trials. Always have to stuff my trousers into my sock haha.

Appreciate the shop, cheers.
