Road Cycling - Bar/stem

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. G'day everyone.
I'm new to this forum, but i'm in desperate need of some help to sort out some confusion.
I'm going to be getting my brand new caad 5 cannondale in a few days now and have not decided on my new bar/stem combo.
I'm about 105kg's and am a track sprinter. I would like some very strong bars and a nice stiff stem for my road bike that will give me little to no flex.
I have been looking at the itm 'mantjs', the deda 'magic' and the cinelli 'devo'.
What are my options with these 3 combinations? are there more options?
Will i need to get oversized clamp?? (31.7).
i'm very confused, so can you knowledgable folk fill me in and clarify the mixed information i have received from various bike stores.
Tim.
At 105 kg, that puts you at 231 lbs. That is a lot of power and a lot of weight. Get a strong stem. I wouldn't rule out using steel in your case.
I have snapped a stem (aluminum) and it is perhaps the worst kind of failure besides a front wheel catastrophie.
Welcome to the forums! You pose an interesting question. What kind of Head Set are you going to use? Threaded or Threadless? If threaded then you will need a QUILL stem. These come with clamp sizes: 25.4, 26.0 and 31.8. (Most being 26.0) If threadless then your choices are 26.0, 31.7 and 31.8. (Again, most being 26.0) The clamp size will determine what H'Bar you have to use.
If you have an option, I think threadless might be stronger than a quill.
BTW, most mountain stems are 25.4 or 26.0. So I'd stick with the Road stems.

Thanks for the quick reply guys.
I'll be using the campagnolo record hidden headset with the caad 5 cannondale, with a 1 1/8'' threadless steerer.
like i said before , i've looked at the deda, itm and cinelli brands at the magic, mantjs and devo models respectively.
keep the advice coming, thanks in advance.
Tim.
I think I would use the stem with a 4 bolt clamp and avoid the 2 bolt . The DEDA Magic31.7 is a 3 bolt unit and may be strong enough.
The Mantjs is a 2 bolt.
I'm not familiar with the Cinelli, but I think they are also 2 bolt.
In the price range, of the stems you mentioned, the RITCHEY WCS comes in a 4 bolt and also 2 clamp sizes: 26.0 and 31.8.
For H'Bars, Ritchey WCS comes in both clamp sizes and is in the same price range as the stem.
The Deda 215 w/26.0 clamp is in the same price range.
The Cinelli SOLIDA MAGNUM 31.8 is about $40. more, and the SOLIDA w/26.0 clamp is about $20. more.
The ITM MILLENIUM 31.8 is about $30. more, while the MILLENIUM 26.0 is $10. more.
The ITM MANTJS is about $10. less.
Now all you have to do is figure out what length you need and the degree of rise you want. In threadless stems these options are limited.
Good Luck. I'm outa here.
