Hey Chicago, who's coming out on Sunday? Sure it will be cold but that just cuts down on the competition :)

My tires are filled with anti-freeze. Oh and my bike was wrought in the infernal cold of the North. Thats all :D
Damn man, I already took a spill in this weather sans bike. I doubt my bike's going to be able to make it anywhere. This when a bad weather fixie with some cyclocross tires would be most handy.

So anyone want a candy bar? :)
Suprisingly good turnout. I fell in a puddle but it was really fun. Was anyone besides Jeff there?

nope - grad work for me. Color me overwhelmed for the next couplaweeks. Today was a good day to ride, eh?
Details on the event Ira?
I didn't go for two reasons. I didn't have the $10 and I was sure I wouldn't enjoy the ride with the way the roads were. What was the format?
Road salt burned the back of my legs. Neoprene booties AND socks were not enough after 1.5 hours of the slush...then my (not sealed) front hub started to complain.
How did I earn more points than you, stickerguy; I think you rode further!

Start was 21st & Damen, objective was to visit Walgreen's stores all over Chicago (hence "The Greens") and log the most miles in the process. Miles from start to each store visited was multiplied by 10. You had to grab a recipt from each store as proof. I bought a lot of candy bars and dug through a lot of trashcans. My strategy was distance over volume, so I hauled ass up to Grandville and hit nine stores in the process. Rode with two friends so keeping the pace wasn't bad. A few riders made it to Howard, and UV went all the way to Willmett (suburbs) but bonked on the way back and apparently didn't recieve points(?). You can see the results here: http://tour.chicago.il.us/2005/stage1/
my 25th place strategy was to head north and hit every
walgreens on the way up until 10:00. jeremy (jst) & I
combined knew where a lot were and we ended up with
fistfuls of closer 'greens receipts & tic tacs. Then j
eremy had to bail due to a mechanical and warmed up
in a ATM kiosk & rolled back to the start/finish to play
Metroid. All in all very fun.
jeff's strategy for the Tour da Chicago:
1. don't die
2. don't get frostbite
3. don't wreck bike
4. show up
5. win
