Hi everybody,
I wanted to ask if ever some of you know a site to download musics safely on the internet. I used to download on Kazaa but I read that I can get infected there. So do you know somewhere else?
Thanks,
Descaboy

some forums frown on this topic, but I'll chance a reply...
Bit Torrent (http://www.dessent.net/btfaq/) is your answer.

Hey thanks to answer my thead, but I've seen a lot of thing on this site, all this seem a little complicated. Also is the peer-to-peer a normal software? Isn't it some kind of spyware. When I had kazaa, I notified that when the peer-to-peer is working even if I wasn't making searches, my connections was very slow.

any software can contain spyware, as you probably know.
The only dedicated torrent client I've used is Azureus. I use Shareaza when I want to search the networks, but I like Az a whole bunch more when I already have a torrent.
If you've got spy/adware, you need to get rid of it before you do anything else. Download Spybot and Ad-Aware, run both until they come up with no more spyware. You might even have to start your PC in safemode and manually delete some of the spyware, but maybe not.
As for torrents being complicated, yeah, probably at first, but then it's easy, safer, more reliable, and faster.
before the morals police show up... I've dl'ed some stuff that is not available here and if you like media entertainment, it's a great way to open up the world. There's a lot of good stuff being made around the world. Korea, Sweden, France, et al. all seem to be producing good stuff. Thankfully, peeps like Quentin Tarentino are willing to go look for it and bring it here commercially.

Just to bring you a little up to speed, peer to peer (P2P) is a category of software that let's two people (peers) share files directly with each other (to). The files are hosted on your computer, not on any intermediate webserver. Most popular p2p applications let you share a variety of different file types, which can include viruses. To help protect yourself, check real quick any file info that the p2p software offers before starting the download. MP3's typically run about 1 MB or more per minute of music. If a file says it's 3 minutes (not all software gives you time), and it's 3 MB, that's a good first indicator that it's safe. Most viruses are very small.
I used Ares, but I think it's been declining in popularity, lately, and I only used it for obscure movies like Mystery Science Theatre.

I use Furthur to download my jam band/indie group shows. They're whole shows so they take a while, but it's a bit of a brotherhood so to speak so I trust the people using it and it works very well.

Hi Lordopie,
thanks for answering. Let me ask you something. I have a search page that infects my internet explorer. I cannot change my start page, each time I open internet explorer it loads briefly and load another search portal and then some popups. I run norton antivirus, avg and even some spyware software like Xofspy. Nothing. How can I correct that situation?
Thanks,

Check out AllofMP3 (http://www.allofmp3.com). You have to pay for it, but it is cheap at $0.02/MB. Depending on format and quality an album might cost under a buck. The site is fast and easy to use. Download their explorer program. You can listen to low quality versions of everything without paying. It is a nice way to sample new music even if you don't buy anything.

Hi lordopie, I don't have a bike. In fact I just learned how to ride just to teach my future kids in I will have any. But I never owned one.
