I've been riding for more than 30 years, both road and mountain, but I know squat about folders. My wife's a casual cyclist who's done a couple of centuries but prefers to cruise around looking at cows and stopping for coffee. Our last kid just left for college, and I've been thinking it would be nice to have a couple of folding bikes to toss in the car for day and weekend trips.
We already have more bikes than we need, so I can't justify spending a lot on them. Her rides would be mostly under 10 miles, low speeds, few significant climbs. She'd probably do fine with a three-speed. I'd use mine more than she would, but I have an Atlantis and Allez for major rides, so a folder would really be a toy. Also, I'm 6'4", so size is an issue--the few folding bikes I've seen up close look too small (I ride a 64 or 65cm road bike).
I know zip about this, so any comments would be helpful.
