This vinyl? Brooks saddle was on a 1977 Raleigh Grand Prix I purchased and I was wondering if it had much value. I know that Brooks saddles sell well, but I have yet to see one that wasn't made out of leather, like this one.

I just put one on a Trek hybrid. Literally, this saddle is a pain in my fat ass. I can ride in almost any saddle, but the Brooks vinyl has little or no padding, it feels like a hard plastic wedge between your buttocks.

i'd say the value is zilch.

Despite the Books name these are pretty basic vinyle saddle and not very comfortable so I would agree with Oddjob that it has very little value.

I might give somebody $1 for one, if I didn't have to go anywhere to get it. That should tell you something.

Generally, I can get about $20.00 for one of these saddles but only if it is included with another purchase. Without another purchase, the cost to ship puts the saddle's price out of reach for most people.

Incidentally, the one presented by the OP is, probably, the worst saddle that Brooks made, in my opinion.

Could this saddle be one of the models made in Italy for Brooks at one time?? I've also seen an 80's(?) racier looking plastic based padded saddle made in Italy for Brooks out there. I was tempted to buy an NOS one recently that was priced very cheap at eBay, but I'm not sure on how comfortable they might be, so I let it go. Anyone here had experience with them by chance and give some feed back too on it???

Wow, funny you bring that up!

I have one of these Made-In-Italy Brooks seats. I had no idea Brooks ever made them there and I have no idea if it has any value, but it looks very nice actually. I've yet to ride it, because I'm still building the bike it's on, my Fabio Barecci. The construction appears to be pretty good , but maybe not quite up to Selle Italia's quality. Mine also appears to be newer than an 80 style, more like a 90's? It is NOS.

Actually, that's exactly the same as the one I saw for sale at eBay. The single picture of it on eBay wasn't that great, so I could not really figure out what its shape was. Now that I see it, I agree that it looks more like a 90's saddle. Is the cover on the saddle real leather? What are the rails made of?
Hope you get to ride it soon and maybe you can give us your review/comments on it.

Thanks for posting the pic!
