Hi guys I'm back riding on the track this year after quite a very long break!! I want to get a new set of track wheels built and need some advice cause things have changed slightly since the last time I had some built. For one thing my rider weight is now 213 lbs (97Kg). I'm thinking Mavic Reflex 36 rear 32 front both 3X laced to Miche Pista hubs with DT Competition spokes and brass nipples. Track use exclusively for both training and racing. Does this sound ok and is my weight ok for this setup. Thanks.

Yes, you would be fine on such a setup.

But, because the fixed gear scene is very popular, there are LOTS of off-the-rack track wheelsets that are very good for great prices. Just about anything here that is 32H/32H (or more spokes) would be fine, for probably less money: http://www.velomine.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=87_172&zenid=fn2s9geen2vjb5t9t83jt29b54

If exclusive to a velodrome, tubulars are preferred.

OP, your wheelset is almost identical to mine (I use 32 spoke rear, with 2x 32 spoke front; same rims and hubs). I am 200lbs; works fine for me pulling 2g turns in a sprint.

Thanks to all, it sounds like I will go with the Tubs as described.

Where are you going to be racing?

If you are going to be using the same wheels for racing and training I would suggest build a nice set of clinchers for now, and then some point down the road get a really nice set of tubies, and move your clenchers down to training/ warm up wheels.
