Europe - Home Base in Spanish Pyrenees

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Am going to Spain with a group of buddies and we want to set up a base in the Spanish side of the Pyrenees. We'll do daily road bike trips from the town we set up in; loops, out and backs and maybe some outs with a van back. The focus will be on bagging some climbs, Tourmalet, Luz Ardiden etc with days running from 80km to 110km. What's the recommendation for a cool town to use as base camp? One that's small enough to be interesting, but big enough to have a few restaurants, a bar or three and a small grocery store. Thoughts? I think it's a bit easier on the French side to find places, but we'd like this to be a Spanish holiday. Thanks!
Yeah, it's a bit easier on the French side... If you want to be close to Tourmalet, Biescas is a popular summer destination with hikers and such. Look up Ainsa as well but make sure to see if the tunnel is open or still closed for repairs...
I do like Argeles-Gazost on the French side...
Also Sabiņanigo, it is the start of the popular "Quebrantahuesos" sportive. For a challenging route, look it up on wikiloc.com or similar websites.
