Hi guys,
I'm getting ready to try hosing out my jammed Dura Ace ST-7700 brifter with WD-40 in hopes of unjamming it but before I do that I have a question I was hoping someone could answer. When I pull on the brake lever and look inside theres a small flat ribbon cable in there that looks like it has torn in half or something. From what I gather its some kind of sensor cable but what exactly does it sense? Is it essential for the shifter to work or can it be removed? I doubt that its the cause of the jamming but if its damaged and not that important I may as well take it out right?
Just to be clear this is in reference the the right brifter. The left works fine and there is no ribbon cable inside that one.
