I need to replace the tubes on my mt. bike. Is there a better option than the $4.95, Wall Mart, made-in-China inner tube?

Not really, unless you want a lighter high performance tube at a high performance price. Walmart buys their tubes from the same makers as the major suppliers to bike shops. Other than China, generic tubes come from Taiwan, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

Here's the cheapest I've found. They come out to $3 each, plus about $7 for shipping. Can't remember what it was exactly.

I'm not sure if the size you want is in there, but I got 10 at a time to make the shipping cheaper per tube. There are others in the place. That's just the page I bookmarked because it has my sizes.

Not unless you buy in bulk.

Tubes are tubes are tubes are tubes, unless you get racing tubes, puncture resistant tubes or those ones that can be melted back together after a flat

I get the pricepoints in 5-packs all the time,

They're CST tubes, BTW.

A local joint had Kenda's for about $3 for a while, but that sale is over.

Judging by the replies, bike tubes are like condoms. The technology hasn't improved, and it's better to buy in quantity.

Try some Schwalbe tubes. Definitely better, but $10.00 each. bk

Considering the potential consequences of poor quality, I'd be much more selective about condoms.

You can get them in latex if you want. They require more frequent tending to the pressure, though.
