A question for all you Winter riders. Do you pay attention to wind chill anymore? I realized that as a kid I paid attention but that I don't anymore. I figure rolling along at 10 to 20mph pretty much throws off any WC numbers so that they don't make sense.

I don't either. Wind chill temperature is only meaningful for exposed skin, and in cold temperatures, I minimize that as much as is practical. However, I did underestimate the effect of windchill on saturday, and underdressed as a result. I got a little bit of frostbite on my ear as a reward. -18c + 50 km/hr gusts are not my friend. Then, to add insult to injury, some sawed-off teenaged punk tells me "nice tights, ya queer". Oh well.

I actually had a wind chill chart that was attached to my ski parka. I used it for years.
Now that I have been winter riding for ten years, I have not used it in nine years.

I suspect that long term winter riders get to the point where they know approximately what to wear by the ambient temp and a little more if it's super windy. As you said the bike always has wind.

I can't believe the wind chill out there (NYC). I thought my nose was going to freeze all the way through.
