Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - Shogun 1500 18 speed

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
After selling the too big Motobecane I have been without a bike for a week or so. I picked this one up last night. It had no front wheel hence the steel wheel from my now parts Puch until I get an aluminum wheel.
Now for the bike, because of this forum I saw the lack of real low end indicators and for $45 couldnt leave it behind. This may be a little big for me again ( I have to get better at eyeballing frame size for these snap decisions), so I'll service it and ride for a week or so and see how it feels. If I decide to sell what could I expect to get to fund my next bike if I need it?
Pics will describe better than I can so, these pictures are as I got it with addition of the wheel.

I agree a real steal for a nice touring bike. I suspect with a good cleaning and tuning about $200 is possible depending on location. You might even consider checking on local shops to see what packing cost. If you post and CL and are willing to ship (at buyers expense) you could get more.
Thanks for the input, Well I'm glad I'm not buying rubbish, I just have to buy the right size non rubbish.

Nice find. Looks like a really good deal.

The trick is to use the profit from the wrong size nice bikes to fund the bikes that do fit. That way, you will have an adequate bike fund to pay full market, giving you a lot more choices. My keeper fleet was fully funded from non-keepers, most of which were not my size. Limiting deals to just those that fit means you will pass on a lot of nice bikes. Kudos for not making that mistake!
$300 bike fully refurbished and looking good.

Thrifty Bill, that's a big price target for a tall Shogun! Nice frame tubingnand okay components, but the frame cosmetics are not perfect, triple chainwheel is a plus. However, Shoguns are not as sought after as Fuji or Miyata.
IMHO, $225 +/-.

That's a nice pickup for the money. Looks like the triple chainring might be a later addition.

I know this came up a few times in the last year or so... does anyone have a source for those little spacers for the dropouts? This wheel really needs to be pushed forward.

Yeah, you could be right. Touring bike with Champion frame plus deer head components are pluses, cosmetics, brand name and size are both negatives.
