Hey, so Im looking to rebuild this frame I bought. Its in mint condition, but Im unable to tell the model.
I think its from the 90's but im not sure. Also, I got completely restored (painted) by Guiseppe Marinoni himself.
Also, If anyone knows what kind of Campagnolo groupset I need, please let me know.

The paint looks nice but the decals are kind of plain, especially the head badge. I would guesstimate $500 since it is a respray but you should ask Marinoni if they would fill in the pantograph on the seat stay cap, I am surprised they didn't do it in the first place.

Impossible to tell the model without pics before it was painted.

As for a group, C-Record if you plan to keep it period specific.

I actually think $500 is ambitious for a repaint later De Rosa with a sloping crown fork. As for model, I think it's a De Rosa...call it a De Rosa professional if you want to. It might be a Giro D'Italia model.

FYI, if it has been repainted, it is not in "mint condition". "Mint condition" is a very overused term, IMO.

Unfortunately, you're not going to see all that back. It's worth more separately as parts than together, so if you're looking for parts to build it up just to sell it, you're going to lose money all around.

In terms of a repaint, you will never get back what you put into it. In fact, unless the paint was REALLY bad, you probably reduced the value. I think the frameset could get you around $400. I would not sell it with the group, you will get more for selling it separately.

I agree with Lostarchitect on this, if you recently bought the frame and then shelled out $400 for a paint job your already underwater. While also not being a DeRosa expert I agree something looks odd witht he headbadge.

If you intent is to build that and then sell it don't even think about a profit. It will cost you more to collect a C-Record or early Chrous group and other parts plus time and effort to assemble than you could ever sell it for.

The replacement decal set didn't help your case.

Probably a $400 to $500 frameset with that repaint.

Make somebody a very nice rider though.

I'd love to see the original before the repaint.

That De Rosa is a beautiful frame and the Marinoni paint job would be a huge plus for me. But for about $1,000 you could have Marinoni build and paint a new frame (Puma or Sportivo) using Columbus Spirit tubing. The result would be a road bike that offers all the virtues of the steel ride while accommodating modern drive trains, while weighing in at under 20 lbs. complete. For a small premium, you could even have Marinoni custom build to your own dimensions.
