Introductions - howdy from Texas!!
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

hehe. I really never say Howdy. i just thought it would be funny to be stereotypical. my name is april. i have been riding a bike daily for over a year now. i sold back my car about 5 months after having a bike and i dont know why i did not do it sooner. i joined because i dont know a whole bunch about putting a bike together (which will not be the case for very long, the bike cave of texas state university is conducting a class to teach how to build a bike). my last bike was recently stolen :'( and i learned many things about prevention and recovery of a stolen bike. i do have a new bike. not quite in running condition. the tires look like they have been the sun for entirely too long. i just really want to learn as much about bikes as i can... best place to start i think. ;)

Hello april, welcome to Bike Forums!
Bike thieves are the scum of the earth. The class on bike mechanics sounds like a great idea, I wish we had those around here when I started commuting in the previous millenium. I could have used a kick-start in bike fixing. The first time I had a flat, I took it to the shop. :) Pretty soon realised I'm not going to get much commuting done unless I start to do the simple mechanical maintenance stuff myself.
