Hi there,

I'm a web designer who designs mostly college website software. My bike club found out that this is my job so they asked me to redesign their really outdated web site, so I figured I'd ask around for examples of good bike club sites to kind of get an idea of what kinds of things I might want to add to the site, either feature-wise or design-wise. Since almost everything I design deals with colleges and universities I figured that there might be some things I was overlooking when it comes to catering specifically to a bike club. Thanks!

www.phillybikeclub.org We redid our site a couple of years ago and are constantly modifying it. We've paid particular attention to automating as much as we can for our ride leaders to enter rides and having features that are helpful to our riders - maps and addresses of popular start locations, pre-ride online sign in (saves time and provides legible contact info) and a designated spot to show mapping of routes (good to download to a bike GPS or simple look to see where the route goes and what the elevation profile looks like). We also looking at ways to use technology even more. I would love to hear from other clubs about some of the features they've added to their sites that they believe are useful.

The one that I belong to that has a site is more of a portal to various tools we use including FB. The other one just uses FB.

My club, http://www.nbwclub.org/ has been around for a long time and I feel does an excellent job of producing rides for members. Their website is informative and easy to navigate. In my opinion, their most important job is cycling advocacy and quite a bit of screen real estate is devoted to that function.

www.actc.org (Almaden Cycle Touring Club) has a good site. They schedule upwards of 150 rides/month so the ride scheduler, ride list, etc. are all online.

www.valleyspokesmen.org has been updated with more pictures from rides, a ride calendar that members can access to add impromptu rides, directory of members, etc.
