So I got my brand new Phil BB, and I was test threading the bolts in with the tool, because I am generally cautious person when it comes to my bike stuff, ad I wanted to make sure they would go in smooth before putting the crank on. The left side went on like butta’, but the right got stuck half way with only a minimal amount of force. I had to actually put the left crank arm on to get enough leverage to unscrew the bolt on the drive side, and even that took like 20 minutes. Once I finally got it out with some careful force and swearing, I noticed that the threads from the BB totally messed the threads on the bolt. Nice bolts too, damn. My LBS was nice enough to give me 2 new bolts for like 2 bucks, so you can’t go wrong there. Phil Wood was nice enough to promise a replacement as soon as possible, and that is just good business. I guess the threads were not machined properly on the drive side, because it sure made a mess of the bolt. I know for a fact that I didn’t cross thread it, because it went in very smooth until about half way. And to think I was 30 mins from completing my fixie. Oh well, go figure. Anyone else had trouble like this, or am I just really lucky?

Bummer, at least your only real downside is the wait for replacements. Phil Woods response is just another reason why thier a class act.

Just to clarify, these were the bolts for holding the cranks in place, right?

Ya, the bolts that hold the crank arm to the BB
