Introductions - Best regards from Ontario, Canada

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have long been a passionate follower of motorcycle racing and from that interest came my username. But the evolution which began to two wheeled motorsport from four, continues now to human power rather than horse power! My 23 year old son, despite my best efforts, refuses to share any interest in motorised transportation in fact he refuses to drive at all and instead travels everywhere either by bus or bicycle. Since figuratively speaking, Muhammed won't come to the mountain, the mountain must go to Muhammed (please forgive this possibly politically incorrect quaint old Brit expression I learned from my father) and I have now joined him in my love of two wheeled self propulsion despite being into my sixties! He and I recently rendezvoused on our bicycles at at mid point 55 kms from either of our homes. Cycling has become a fantastic recreational activity and a great bond builder between us. Hurray for the bicycle - the greatest of human inventions!

Thank you! I would say that I am currently into vintage road bikes, 27" wheels, drop bars, exactly the kind of thing I rode to school as a kid in England. We live out in the country and take our rubbish to the local dump - from which on several trips I returned with abandoned old road bikes! My current principal rides are a Raleigh Record upgraded to 12 speed from 10 and with alloy wheels, bars, cranks, etc. and a similarly set up old Velo Sport Cavalier all equiped except for new tires by the local dump! Sadly those days of finding such treasures are long over. Now all I find is old computer gear!
This winter I will be building up a new road bike from a Taiwanese carbon fibre frame. Will probably end up passing it along and staying with my oldies!
