The smoke and rubble have been cleared, and the stage is finally set, Super Bowl XXXIX will feature the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots. In the spirit of football do any of you have any picks as to whos going to come away with this one? Why?

Philly...long time fan and hater of bandwagon teams.
I dislike the Eagles so I'll go Pats. I'd have much rather seen a Falcons / Steelers Super Bowl

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a "bandwagon" team?
Anyway, I pick the Pats. Been rooting for them too long not to.
I dislike both teams, I will only watch for the commercials.

I guess I'm on the bandwagon, being from New England and all, so I'm hoping the Pats take another. I'm a Red Sox fan too  There's almost no room for the rest of you bandwagon fans.

Eagles win. TO will come back and they'll be on a roll. TO gives them the confidence to get it done.
Another Pats win would be bad for the NFL, in my opinion. Fans get bored of "dynasty" teams like the Pats, Lakers of a few years back, etc.
I wish they'd do away with this stupid week off in between games. We have to hear everyone talk about the game for 2 weeks. That's why the game never lives up to the hype.

I think the Pats have done nothing but elevate the game. They have proven that the team concept can work and work well. That multi-dimensional players in the right system can play the game better than teams built around one trick ponies. And as someone who has never had the pleasure to root for a dynasty team, I look forward to the possibility. In this instance, everyone else's boredom takes a back seat to the pleasure I get from watching my team finally get it's due.

Did Andy Reid (Spelling?) even say what the condition of TO is? From the sounds of it, it had sounded like TO was going to be out for the rest of the entire season. I am wondering if he is putting him in out of desperation. I don't think I can believe that TO is 100%, but im from New England so I gotta root for the home team.

Panthers fan here... I guess I'll be pulling for Philly, since the Pats owned us last year.
I wonder how 'tame' the halftime show will be?

No. I knew someone was going to say something. In this area everyone an their granmother has become a NE fan this past few years. Reminds me of buffalo in the early 90's. I liked buffalo, suddenly they do well and everyone is an nfl expert on buffalo and the no huddle offence. NE has picked up enough fans that there needs to be a balance ;)

Sort of like what Lance & his team have done to the Tour d' France?
By the way, you forgot the Celtics.... :)

ditto
but I'm rooting more for the Eagles cuz if the Pats win, then they'd be a dynasty and I don't want that :D

how about this...
If the Pats win:
1. Would they be a dynasty?
2. If yes, would they be (arguably), the best team ever?

The winning numbers would put them up there. number of playoff wins in a row etc...
I think the biggest problem folks have getting their minds around the fact the Pats have done so well is there is no franchise player to speak of on the team. No one or two players upon whose shoulders the team's success depends. Their success is dependent on everyone stepping up and doing their job. Smart play accompanied by tough execution.
Regardless of how the Stupor Bowl finishes, I will always be appreciative of what the Patriots have done. But beating Philly would be a nice exclamation point on a run that has been absolutely fantastic.

I heard on the radio that 17 of their 22 starters were drafted. That means from day one, they're bringing in quality players. It also means they're scouting better than everyone else. The scouting/drafting here in Denver is weak.
Growing up fifteen minutes from Foxboro, I am (and always have been, and always will be) a die hard Pat's fan. Plus Philly fans are bad losers. I love to hear them whine on WIP after a loss. They will be calling for McNabb's release, Reid's firing, and the return of the Duce after the Super Bowl.

Sad, so sad,so alone, so utterly lost boohoo lifetime Steelers fan devasted at the loss, a loss I could have taken but a a$$ kickin like that's hard to swallow.
I'll be rooting for Philly all the way but if I were a betting man I'd go NE. I bet the spread will be 10+ points for NE. There's no way T.O. can do anything, even if they do dope him up enough to play, he'll have no muscle in the broken leg.
And if Paul McCartney shows his nipple, I'm outta there...

The Patriots are a 6 point favorite. Looks like the Eagles for me.
Probably NE, but in truth, I don't really care.
I'm a Bears fan, but I like McNabb, so I am hoping that Philly wins. But if they lose, I really won't care since I'll probably be drunk anyways.

Woo-hoo! I've been a Dolphins fan for a long time, and since I wasn't alive in the 70's, I'm still waiting.
And my pick is the Eagles. I think they want it more than the Pats. And under pressure, everyone will elevate their game.
