How can I tell what kind of alloy my wheels are made of? I looked for any indications and markings, but didn't see any. This is the bike I bought.

It just says alloy. The reason why I'm asking is that I want to strip the paint off of them and leave them silver. If I do that, will I have to treat it somehow? Like with a clear coat?

Let me know guys. Also, does anyone have good tutorials on painting rims? I will consider powder coating them, but if there are good tutorials, I might try to do it myself.

Is aluminum the most common? And how did you know that? Any suggestions on protecting it after stripping?

Rims pretty much only come in Steel, aluminum alloy, carbon, and wood.

Your link says the hubs are alloy, doesn't specify what the rims are. but I can't believe they would be anything but Al.

If a magnet sticks to them, they are not aluminum.

I don't recall seeing steel rims on a road bike since the 70s. Has anyone seen steel rims on a road bike newer than 30 or 40 years?
