Have you ridden either or both?
If both, which one felt faster to you?
I am looking for a puncture/sidewall protected 650b tire that isn't sluggish.

'Sluggish' is determined by a number of things. The Marathon isn't Schwalbe's top tire and it's antiflat protection is thick and heavy. The Soma is 30% lighter and will have a better ride. The only Marathon better than the Soma would be the Marathon Supreme and last I checked, it isn't made in a 650b size.
