I wrote an introduction message a couple of weeks ago when I first joined. But, I think by the time I hit the submit button, the session had timed out and it didn't get posted.

Anyway, about myself...As an adult I started riding a few years ago at the age of 40. When I was buying my bike, I did a lot of research, I visited several local bike shops and ended up buying a Devinci Copenhagen hybrid bike.

I am a skier and started biking mostly to stay in shape during the late spring-mid fall. But, like almost everyone else here I fell in love with cycling. I spend a fair amount of my time reading about skiing and cycling training, nutrition, equipment etc.

I tend to research a lot before I buy anything and that is how I ended up on this forum. I am seriously thinking about upgrading to an endurance road bike and some of the discussions on this site has been tremendously helpful.

Anyway, I am planning to be a relatively active member. Of course, not as active as some of the other people but I will try to contribute by sharing the limited knowledge that I have.

That is all for now.

Cheers and welcome to Bike Forums. Looking forward to reading your posts. By skier do you mean XC skiing or downhill?

Downhill i.e. Alpine. I have never tried XC. Although I know it is great workout.

OK, I'm more XC skier myself. Have tried Alpine (regular and Telemark) on a couple of occasions, but the bug didn't really bite. But boy did my legs shake after just a few hours with the Telemark skis! :D

Welcome BikersSkiWell, hope you find the perfect road bike but the addition is a never ending journey. You'll soon want more bikes. Enjoy the ride.

Interesting. I have never tried telemark either. I tend to focus on one thing and try to perfect that rather than branch out into other things. For example, I have never owned and have no plans to buy a mountain bike. Also, I have never snowboarded and will likely never even try it same goes for telemark.

But XC skiing is something that I may try one day. I know it is one of the best whole body workouts plus you get to see the world from a completely different angle at a completely different speed. Very different from Apline skiing where you take the lift up the mountain and then ski down at high speed.

Thanks!

I hear you on the never ending journey. My collection of skiis, ski jackets, pants, mid-layers, fleeces, gloves and soon bikes is testament to what you just said.
