I'm a newbie and am looking at the 12 miles of hell (ride not race). Anyone who has ridden this, is it too difficult for a beginner?

I rode "12 miles of hell" once. My then g/f complained the entire fookin' time.
I don't know what your asking about either but if you've never ridden a mountian bike on uneven ground, single track, rocks, roots, mud or anything other then a smooth gravel road, I wouldn't suggest it.

I don't know about 12 Miles of Hell. But ride Helltrack if you get a chance.

googled it and got this:
http://www.12milesofhell.com/
If you look at the pictures (specifically the '01 pics) I can see some places where I would have had problems when I first started riding.
