Bicycle Mechanics - Front derailleur is hard to shift.

Hey guys, I've been having trouble today with shifting my fd. It is difficult to shift and when it does it makes a rather loud sound. Its a Shimano Sora Triple. If anyone has problems like this in the past or if they know how to fix this I would glady appreciate the help.

Robert, is it hard to shift as you are going into the bigger rings or down into the lower gears. There could be several different things causing it. Have you done any cable work or adjustments lately. Many times front derailluers are subject to overtightened cables causing hard shifting.

Its hard when I'm going into the bigger rings. And its not as easy as it was a few days ago going to the smaller rings. It also makes a loud sound when it goes down to the smaller rings. It just happened after a bike ride the other day. I don't think I messed with the cables. But it seems tighter than the rear one. I was adjusting the high and low screws on the derailleur today trying to fix it. It helped but it didn't totally fix it.

It sounds more like a cable issue rather than an adjustment. The limit screws are mainly for keeping the chain from dropping off of the rings. Either on the lower end or over the top of the big ring. Usually when they get tight it is a cable binding. Try lubing the derailluer and changing the cable and housings.
