Saw this bike on the way home this evening.

It was a mutant tandem mountain bike. It had a huge table like rack on the back, and that's right...it had a foremast on it too. Didn't have a carved bust, but it had a mermaid looking water-jet thing on it too.

A marvel of science, and a testament to one man's imagination!

I am trying to imagine what it might be used for.

Oh man is that cool. I'd have a folding umbrella for shade and a place to carry a cooler & two folding chairs. No babe could resist a bicycle picnic.

I think the mid-deck bike and the parent/child bike are just commercially available bicycles, not especially mutant. They're uncommon here, for sure.

The bike in the original post looks like an old tandem converted to a cargo bike.

Yeah, that "mid deck" bike looks to be a fairly normal box bike, with the front, back, and sides off the cargo box.

Absolutely agreed, the guy who decided to put that in the top ten needs to find a job he is better suited for. Standard load up front cargo bike and not even a unique one in any way either.

Now the sculpture race bikes, now those are unique creations, looks to be some kind of amphibious by land or by sea race of some sort.

I think I'd go with a sleek low and long WWII submarine looking thing to combine both on road and in the water maximum speed potential satisfying both low aerodynamics and hydro-dynamic drag with two wheels built into the hull in front and back with just the bottom 6" or so of the wheels sticking out the bottom of the center line and me all nice and cozy and laid back tucked inside the hull with just my head and shoulders sticking up behind the conning tower that is clear and doubles as a windshield. Satisfying all the style while making it a speed machine on both land and sea. Make the front dive planes longer then to scale and have them tip down and contact the ground on either side via a hand lever so you don't tip over at a stop and you can use them just like putting a foot down on a regular bike.

obviously a land py-rite.
