I'm trying to lower my schwinn Willy black 7 speed by 2 inches. Current specs are 700c wheels and i'd like to replace these with 26 inch ones. I'd be fully prepared to buy new rims, shorter cranks, parts, etc if necessary
heres a picture :
thanks in advance

The tough part will be finding brakes with enough reach. A 650b conversion is possible, but tough to justify the cost.

To lower your bike by 2", you'll need to reduce the wheel diameter by 4" -- even converting to 26"/559mm rims and using the skinniest tires available won't do that unless you were using big 700C tires before.
So, let's hear why you need/want to do this. :)

I converted a Varsity to 26" rims by using a coaster brake. It's the bike in my sig.

Coaster brake, drum brakes, disc brakes if you have money to burn.......be prepared to build your wheels.
+1 on probably not worth the cost, trouble, and differences in handling incurred.

Plus you would ground the pedal if you leaned even a little bit while pedalling, unless you also went to shorter cranks.

I think Paul makes brakes that would work and you can definitely get some BMX cranks that would clear.
Probably cheaper to start with a 26, but, hey, it's only money.:D
