Foo - The Satellite Radio Audience

Based on the adverstising heard on Sirius and XM. I've come up with the following demographic profile of the average satellite radio listener.

An impotent middle aged truck driver, with low testosterone, who's interested in penis enlargement, buying gold, and starting a franchise.

90% of the commercials I hear and for these products.

They have commercial and non-commercial stations. Simalcasts of CNN and MSNBC are filled with commercials for truck drivers and viagra substitutes.

It has TONS of commercials, which is one reason why I stopped my subscription.

I had sat radio for a few months because of a promo where I basically paid $2 a month for 6 months or something, plus Internet listening. But, my drive was really short, I spent more time listening to commercials than music, I heard the exact same songs at the same time every day, and they got rid of the only three stations I listened to.

oh. I didn't know that. All the stations I listen to don't have commercials (country, alt-nation, XM-U, NPR talk, Pulse, etc.)

We play it at work, and it's like cable tv. I'll take Pandora over it any day.

What's the point of satellite radio these days? Most cars now come equipped to interface with your iPod, Zune, or some other digital device. If you have an extensive enough library, you'll get less repeats and it will all be stuff that you can at least tolerate.

That's the if. I only listen to satellite radio when I rent a car. I'm not going to risk my CD on their car.

Also Sirius XM sounds horrible for the most part. They compress the signal to such an extreme that FM sounds better.

I listen to Pandora via bluetooth through my car stereo. Sounds great.

The obscure stations don't have commercials, but the "mainstream" stations have more commercials than music/talk/etc.
