Well I have the burley limbo and I had planned on upgrading it. so far I changed out most of the drivetrain. I went with sram x9 rd 9 speed cogs click shifters and new fd. Avid single digit 7 brakes too. Got a rans seat base now.
I can’t see adding a new crankset to it as I doubt it would give me much of any improvement. But I do need a new set of pulleys as the rumble drives me nuts. I can hit teracycle on the way to work so that’s easy.
The last three things I could think of is a better wheel set to use narrower tires. But I just put a armadillo 1.5” tire on at 100 psi in back so would there be much of a difference? The front wheel unless I have suspension I don’t know if I would want that tire so hard. Going up small ledges in paths and such can give you a pretty good jolt with the stock tire at 35psi.
So I was thinking of two things a front suspension fork or a fairing. The suspension forks are a bit less http://www.hostelshoppe.com/cgi-bin/search.pl?category=607200
Then the whole fairing package. Though I am not sure what fork to get since I have never had one.
Though I may be able to do the faring if I make my own mount for it.

Get three new wheels. As in a trike. Then, as you trade off from time to time, the Burley will feel fresh and different each time and you won't need to change anything else.

I'm with Chip--My tax refund is going toward a new trike. I can't afford to break another leg.

How much money are you going to spend on upgrades to your Burley before you kick yourself that you didn't use the money for a new bike?

I just bought this bike about 3 months ago. I had to wait till I got an insurance settelment from getting hit by a car. I doubt I can justify a new bike right now. I just paid for the damages to my road bike.
when buy a new bike spend all that money on accesories then upgrade it too? most recumbents don't come with great compnents for the price you pay.

Just asking, with tongue slightly in cheek, because I've been down that road before, dumping way too much money into an old DF before finally giving up and getting a new one. A guy on another list once did major mods to a BikeE. When all was said and done, it was still a BikeE. To mangle his quote at the time, "You can train a pig to be a racehorse; but it doesn't make him a racehorse, just a fast pig."

true but I don't think the burley is a bad bike. but I usualy like really good shifting and durablity. so I would be upgrading most bikes to feel and perform the way I want. new drivetrain and new wheels mostly. I think i will jsut get one of those suspension hubs for it. and maybe a better shock asorber on back.
