I am planning a trip to the Mall of America next week and was wondering if there are any stores that sell bicycle accessories and so forth in the mall? I looked online at their directory but I figured someone in the area may have a better idea than I.

I don't think there are any bike specific shops at the Mall. There is an REI not too far from the Mall. There are plenty of bike shops in the area though.

There is an Eric's Bike and Fitness within a couple miles... but honestly, getting into Downtown Minneapolis is super-easy, with the light rail, you'd be doing yourself a disservice not to take the train into downtown and then go to someplace like One on One Bike Shop (http://www.oneononebike.com/), literally two blocks away from a train platform. Not only can you get a great cup of coffee, you can look at the cool old bikes in the gallery ('49 Masi track bike, anyone?), and go dig through the bins of used parts in the basement. New accessories are of course available, too. Depending on the day, you might even be able to catch the start of an alleycat, as the owner (Gene-O) is a great sponsor for these events. Tell Hurl the bike mechanic that J.R. sent ya.
Please, please, please get into downtown Minneapolis. Nicollet Avenue, which runs north-south through downtown, has such a wealth of truly great places to eat that the city re-named a portion of it "Eat Street." Bobby Flay has a Mesa Grille, there's the world's largest retailer of Jameson Irish whiskey The Local, there are at least a dozen Viet/Lao/Thai holes-in-the wall, there's excellent Mideastern at Cashan, there's absolutely outstanding Greek at Christo's and truly inspired Maylay at Peninsula.
I love the city, am kind of sorry I left, and will be happy again when I move back. Great place. Enjoy your trip.
