Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Which hubs are on your bike?

I want to upgrade from the OEM hubs that came on my Kilo II. I've noticed that these OEM (TrackSpec) hubs don't roll nearly as easy as the 35 yo Campy Records hubs on my road bike (down the same hill). I don't need race quality hubs but ones suitable for a training bike. I use this bike for recreational rides (2 or 3 two hr rides per week and a 100 mile loop on Sundays), not racing, commuting, employment (messengering).

I met a local fixie rider who praised his Ulterga front hub, but called his Bianchi rear mediocre.

The ones that came in the wheels when I bought them. They're no-name, but a repack and a little adjustment and they roll damn well.

As stated in the other thread, it's going to be cheaper to upgrade your hubs by way of upgrading your whole wheelset by purchasing something with sealed Formula hubs from Velomine.

Although if you want to get really crazy you can get the Wabi set. Although I am loathe to recommend shopping at a retailer than charges $8 to change spacing. :notamused:

Also, fix your saddle angle.

origin 8 branded sealed formula and they work fine.

it's been asked before, but will ask again: do you really want to change your hubs only, or the entire wheelset??

generally speaking, if you have a cheapish wheelset now, it makes very little economic sense to unlace them and relace to another hubset.

by the way, i dont know how you can seriously think you're making some meaningful comparison between road hubs and track hubs going down a hill...

if you ride the bike above for a "100 mile loop" on Sundays, the way it sits there, i'll eat my hat. how long does it take to ride this 100 mile loop??
