Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Anybody else feel extremely awkward when riding a single speed?

No, I don't feel awkward on a single speed. I do, however, feel awkward on bikes where the bars are several inches lower than the saddle, like most people here ride.

Nope, I usually forget the pleasure of being able to coast as I've gotten in the habit of shifting methodically in such a way that my cadence remains relatively around my sweet spot.

Nope. I learned to ride a bike on a single speed, after a few years rollin' fixed trike.

I only feel awkward after I reached the to the DT for shifters then went to the barends and the tried to shift the brake lever too!

I will occasionally reach for downtube shifters on any road bike I ride. Even after riding ONLY the brifter rig for a good month straight. Riding along fingers resting on shifters and I reach down for the downtube.

Awkward with a capital A for sure.

No, but I do find it hard to switch modes from biking to driving. I catch myself thinking behind the steering wheel; "nope, don't do that, this is a car you will die if you try that"
