Hey all,

New to the forum. I'm also relatively new to cycling, and planning small tours along the C&O canal. While searching YouTube for info on the C&O, I came across one with a very unique BOB trailer trunk. You can see it here at the 4 minute mark or so:

The music in the video is annoying... and, I wish the video taker would have asked this guy about the trunk and get some more info, but oh well.. Anyone ever build anything like this for a BOB? Or, is there a similar commercial product?

Thanks,

Dean

That is undoubtedly unique, although with one of the main criticisms of the BOB Trailer being the weight, you have to wonder why something that looks like it was riveted together out of steel plates would be the best answer. I can't imagine there are many commercial products like that, but it wouldn't be too hard to rig one up yourself.

Why would you need anything other than the standard B.O.B. dry bag for short tours on the C&0? At 13 lbs. the trailer is heavy enough as it is.

Good Lord how much stuff do you really need to carry!!!! The rear rack has a ton of stuff on it as well.

they used to make a frame under a Rubbermade bin, same 1 wheel thing.
but it didn't sell well enough, so well so they made their factory, over there, quit.

IMHO utility wise 2 wheels function better.. load, Ala costco trips, made the BoB
unstable handling.

if you set out to make one of those, go monocoque, the frame is redundant.

carbon fiber will give it Bling.

My thoughts exactly. Perhaps you would need the trunk if you thought you might be riding through a meteor storm. Other than that I don't see the need.

Hey maybe he was preparing for the next zombie apocalypse? If they do attack he will be prepared. :)

Maybe that was what this guy was thinking:

We also wondered if this explained the rash of axe murders going on in the area but didn't want' to jump to any conclusions. :)

Even a Musical Saw is suspicious, be ready to play a song on it
when they ask 'what is that for?'
