Tandem Cycling - Our 1st Cyclocross race on new (to us) El Conquistador de Montanas

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Last Saturday we rode our new (to us) El Conquistador de Montanas to a neighbor's house. He had created a cyclocross course on his 10 or so acre property, and invited the road racers from our local Wheelmen club to join him for a night of informal racing.

"When are you guys going home to get your 'cross bikes?" "We think we'll ride this."
"I'd like to watch you get thru those hairpin switchbacks in the woods." "Just watch us"

We won First Tandem! (yeah, I know) We were voted worthy of a great prize (dozen farm raised eggs from their flock of fancy Copper Maran chickens - beautiful dark chocolate covered shells). It was a lot of fun, and we're looking forward to more adventures on this mountain tandem.

That is just too cool! Doing a cyclocross race on a MTB tandem must have been a total hoot. The prize made it all the more worth the effort, I'm sure. :D Keep the rides and pictures coming, please!

Very cool! I don't think my Stoker would ride that with me. :-)

Mine will ride off-road before on-road any day. Tandems off-road are not for everyone, but if you enjoy it they are a blast.

Cyclocross is not popular where we live, but the upcoming off-road time trial series we will hit a few events if possible.

BTW, single bikes do not like being passed on technical trails, so make the pass stick.

Singles don't like to get passed by a tandem regardless of where you're riding
