Hi Everyone,
I'm not new to cycling but I am new to the touring segment. I'm looking at a few Surly Crosscheck's. It's hard to find an MSRP online. Do bike shops buy the framesets and build it as they wish? What is a reasonable price for a slightly used Crosscheck?
Thanks,

Current msrp appears to be $1150/complete and $440/frameset. Surly is distributed through QBP, so most any LBS can order them. Frame-up builds can be expensive relative to the cost of a complete bike.
Surly frames are common choices for "custom" builds, so you may find a broad range of component quality on CCs available on the resale market. As such, you can expect a broad range of fair value.
Take a gander at these frames too.

soma quality is superior to surly and since they use tange prestige tubesets they are higher quality frame.......other frames to consider are rawland and velo orange, velo orange dropped the prices of their frames by appx 16percent!......when was last time ANY consumer product dropped, much less by 16percent?

Soma and Surly may both be made by the same factory,
since there are big Companies in Taiwan, making all the brands we buy.
Different contract with a different importing distributor.
SOMA , Merry Sales , in So SF, QBP in MN.

My estimate would be around $700 to $850 for a slightly used Crosscheck Complete.

That seems to be about right depending on the build of course.....
