the 2013 windsor knight is currently on sale at BD for $800. It's got solid components and rims. I was going to wait till november or christmas to buy my first legit road bike, but this one seems really good to pass up.

Last year, they had gravity road bikes with sram apex, rival and force comnponents selling for 600, 750 and 900 rsepectively. But I'm not sure about the frames on those bikes, which were tapered and different from traditional designs.

so should I buy this before the sale ends tomorrow? Or wait for possibly better deals later this year?

----------

i'm a college student, btw. It would be great to save some money, but I also want to break away from vintage bikes, and make my leap into modern bikes that are actually younger than me.

I also did a lot of research on sram groupsets, and determined that I'm not particularly concerned about the hood shape or the shifting mechanics. Coming from friction shifters, they are both awesome in my book. Also, I was concerned that sram components being lighter, they might wear a little faster than shimano parts.

".. $800. It's got solid components and rims .."

Not much to go on.

You don't give any specifics of the bike or a link, so how would anyone know if it's a good deal ?

you should really use the search engine more often...

ultegra 6700 shifters, levers and derailleurs. vuela xrp pro rims with aero profile. sram cranks (52/42/30; it says 52/39/30, but windsor website states otherwise). average cassette and chain. I also read that the cassette is also sram, meaning the gears are 11-32, not 12-25 as listed on the website. But I was mostly taken by the ultegra components and the rims. These are things that I never want to upgrade, ever. Cranks, chains and cassettes are another question.

A bike like this would go upwards from $1500 at bike worlds. It was on sale for $800 over the weekend. This will be my first modern road bike, and I think I made a good buy. I was about wait to wait for november or later to see if BD has any deals on sram bikes, but decided to jump the gun, because the sram bikes on sale last year tend to come with the gravity (Rseries) compact frames, which I don't like from the looks of it.

IMO, carbon frames vs alu frames is like dura ace vs ultegra. not worth the extra price you have to pay, considering how much weight you really save.

Um, yeah, sure, ok ....

It works like this.... the person asking for advice or help puts in the effort to supply the needed information, so that those willing to help have enough information to give informed advice, keeping the speculation & guessing to a minimum.
