I recently built up a new track bike after taking a hiatus for a while.
However, after the first couple days of riding I seemed to have "bruised" the bone in my right big toe (on top, over the ball of my foot) from skidding and braking.
I am riding All City plastic clips with standard double straps on Origin8 Pedals. My foot size is 13 so I'd imagine the clips/straps are barely giving me the positioning I need. Also, my toe seems to be taking quite a while to heal, even after staying off the bike for a while.
My question is... do Pro Grip velcro straps work better? In terms of distribution over your foot when braking?

And also, will the ProGrip 1's fit my Origin8 track pedals? Ive have read, in a few places, that they do and do not. Something about a 14mm strap width not fitting through the pedals.
I used to ride all the time without this problem. I am finding some difficulty finding a solution without purchasing the endless combination of pedal/strap/cage choices out there.
Any help will be appreciated.
FYI - I am running a 48/17 ratio.
