Hey everybody, noob here. I hadn't ridden since my old lime-green cheapo Schwinn 10-speed (or so I recall it) as a kid a few decades ago. But since my aging car was becoming a money pit (and I work from home, with everything I need close at hand), I decided to go carless and get back onto a bike while my legs still worked. Since I really just wanted a comfy ride for leisurely trips along paved roads/residential streets, I went for the Giant Simple 7 -- specifically, this 2012 model:

So I'm thinking I'll want some fenders for this guy, and I'm trying to decide on a color....

1. Gloss black
2. Matte black
3. Orange
4. Chrome
5. Other

What do you think?

Go chrome. It's what works with your cruiser.

I would have said chrome, too, but the silver frame color will wash out some of the contrast. So, I'm going to vote matte black. Understated.

i say you are over thinking this, get some mudguards that fit.
and use them in the color they are..

Esge/SKS, are a plastic with an aluminum core,
the plastic if not the translucent black will show the core foil color.

If it was my bike, I'd get orange. That'll give you some contrast yet match the orange highlights on the frame.

The best and safest colors are orange, lime green, or bright yellow all of which will just snap on that silver bike!!

Black would be a simple, understated look.
Chrome would be a nice bit of bling, and give a classic "cruiser" look.
Orange would be a nice splash of color that would compliment the stripes on the frame. It would help it stand out.

If it were mine, I would probably give serious consideration to chrome fenders with orange pinstriping painted on.

Thanks for the replies so far. I could see myself going with any of these options. I wonder if the shiny chrome would help make me a bit more visible to drivers....

It's not real obvious from the image, but the frame color is a sort of metallic "gun metal" gray (platinum?), as opposed to silver.

so you are going DIY for the painting a color. ?

Check out bikes and riders as you are driving in your car. Frankly, I doubt the color of the bike, even fenders, matters much. A safety yellow colored shirt on the other hand .....

The colors I noted are your best choices for improved visibility of your bike on the street. Chrome will make it disappear so that's no good at all!!
