Touring - New fork recommendation 26"

While on a short trip this week I ended up trashing my LHT fork. It was still rideable but bent back into the bike quite a bit. I have used the search feature and google but I am looking for more advice. I ride a 56 cm 26 in LHT, obviously need lowrider/ fender mounts, also not opposed to disc/ straight blade forks. Thanks.

you can buy a LHT fork, I think that's the route to take. Are you sure the frame isn't bent?

A bike shop will check your frame for damage, then order another LHT fork for you.

I will prob get an LHT fork...just looking for other options. Going to have the frame checked this weekend. I had a rack fail which has been recalled so I am also dealing with their legal right now. At least I was able to ride away...pretty beat up but I still rode away.

Sounds like a good time to consider upgrading to a Disc Trucker fork and Avid BB7 caliper.

It don't want to say as of right now, I am currently dealing with them on this issue. The company was very helpful and apologetic when I talked to them and I am having the bike looked at by my LBS. They said that fork and frame will be taken care of if necessary and urged me to seek medical attention if needed. I am very impressed with their quick response and genuine care for my well being. They even asked if I was still on the road so they could take care of this issue right now.

Yeah, LHT fork is a good one, so I would go that route.

They used to be about 65 till Surly cracked down. Now they are 100. If I was spending my own dime, and I couldn't get a paint match anyway, then I might consider something like a tange, they ride nicely. My local shop sells these chromed forks, and they have all the bits on them, and probably come from Asia, and I have bought those for builds.

The paint colour could be a problem. If so get, them to buy you a new frame. You can sell the other one, and reduce their cost, if you want to be really big about it. If you hit hard enough to wreak a fork, I think you need a new frame.

This fork is one I have always wanted to try, though it is hard to think of a serious reason. 9mm long is about as much as I would contemplate, and I would stick with the LHT in this case. But you asked:

Went to the shop today and all is good. New Surly fork ordered with labor and materials paid by the rack manufacturer. Also a full refund on the rack. My shoulder is coming along well so all in all I am happy.
