Mountain Biking - cut down bars

i have some dmr wingbars alloy that are 690mm long which are to long but i dont no how far to cut them down my bmx bars are to short which are 520mm and my xc bike has 560mm bars that feel alrite this is for dirt jumping though so any suggestions from the experienced for the newbie. cheers

well, for dirtbiking, i know that the bars should generally be the same width as your shoulders. i dont know if the same rule applys to bikes

I may need to do this on my new bike, I'd try about 1cm then ride it see how it handles and cut more if I need to. Rember you can cut it down, but not add.
