Hi all... I rode my wedgie 22,400 miles last year and have decided to switch to a bent. I have a Sun EZ Sport LE that I used to take weekend rides around 50 miles or so, but not regularly. Now that I have attempted the switch, I have the worst pain in my coccyx area. I have done searches but no one seems to have mentioned this problem. I ride for about an hour before the pain starts. I stop/stretch about once an hour. When I get home, it takes me up to 3 minutes to be able to stand up. As I stand, the pain itensifies as I get up. Any ideas would be welcomed! By the way, I am riding around 70 miles per day. Thank you..

Just a guess but are you sliding forward on your seat, putting pressure on your tailbone? If so, can you angle the nose of the seat up some? If you had a RANS seat, I'd guess it was the seatpan lip problem, but never heard of a problem with the EZ seat.

I was slipping forward a bit, I lifted the front of the seat as much as I could, but not much help.. (thank you)

If you have not do so tilt the seatback away from vertical. Sitting on the seat with a vertical seatback puts more pressure upon the tailbone area. You can also tilt the nose of your seat. Use a shim under the seat frame. You could also add extra foam under the seat cover. These three (3) solutions
have helped me in the past on some of the "Bents" I have owned. GOOD LUCK!! :D

Thank you.. I just added a few spacers to the front of the seat, which gives me another inch of lift in the front. My seat is tilted back a bit. Will try tomorrow if it isn't raining..

IIRC there is a metal crossbar at the base of the seat back. Are you making contact with this?

If you really like cycling I think you should make a radical swift to recumbent with a pronounced reclined seat like Optima Baron Nasca Fiero or even Velokraft. Only on a recumbent of the kind you can feel the real comfort of a bent. The time it would take you to learn and adapt to this new type of bicycle is well worth its price

Thank you for your advice, I ride too much in heavy traffic to try that at this point in my life. I rode 80 miles today, and I now realize the bar in the seat back is making contact with me... Any other ideas?

Thank you

Try this product. My fellow rider purchased one last year and it helped with his back problem. He is retired because of a back injury and rides a Burley Limbo. :D
