Foo - The Tomato Update...

So I took the plant like you told me, place it outside the porch (for bee access) and re-planted it on a bigger pot:

As a self-certified expert Florida winter patio gardener, I would guess that your plant went without adequate light early in life, and/or sat out in the heat. They will not give you many, if any, flowers or tomatoes if the night-time low is over 75 degrees, and they are left outside. I grew my tomatoes from seed, and just transfered them outside this weekend, when the temps got cool enough.

I found tomatoes do best if they live under bright growlights for the first month or so. It makes them big and bushy instead of all Nicole Richie looking. Also, transplant them to a bigger pot any time the leaves are wider than the pot. When they get outside, they need about a gallon of water every other day, at least 6 hours of direct sun each day, and a tablespoon of Miracle Grow in their water every week or two. If you are growing in a pot, you may need more water more frequently. Mulch on the soil saves water and reduces weeds.

The second photo is one of the plants I put in the ground yesterday. It's not too late to buy some plants this size from your local garden center if you want a decent crop. Here's the full patio garden, and my dog Merckx, just because she's awesome. Good luck with your garden.

It's your little girl's tomato plant. She probably won't care if it gets two tomatoes or twenty. Keep it watered and give it sun and hopefully the flowers will produce fruit.
