Hi All,
Whats a fair price for a 2008/7 cross concept with ultegra groups set? From pictures it seems to be in good shape, but I'll reserve judgement till I see it in person. The seller says the ultegra parts are a couple months old. I'm thinking of offering 1300ish? Thanks
I wouldn't overpay for the Ultegra parts. You can get a new Ultegra build kit for $800. If they really are a couple of months old, they should be 6700 series not 6600 (the most obvious difference being internal cable routing). Pay attention to the wheels. I believe that bike came with Mavic Aksium, which are nothing special.
Here's a link where someone was selling the Rival/Force version of that bike for $750: http://cowbell.cxmagazine.com/forum/topics/for-sale-55-cm-bianchi-d2-cross-concept-race-complete-bike-750
Thanks for the info. By internal routing do yo mean the shift cables are wrapped on the handle bars?

Yes.
When I first started my CX quest for a bike, I saw an '06 Cross Concept in the local CL. The guy started pretty much at $1200 and started to lower it down every wk to 2 wks. The bike was pretty much stock accept some nice Mavic wheels on it. I did go out there to take a look at it and ride it. Ended up he bought it through some friend who worked at the LBS and he wanted to get rid of it cause his doc told him no more riding. Ended up he had a car vs car accident. He started getting in touch with me on the bike and we kept in touch cause I thought I'd "get my feet wet" by negotiating a price. He had his bike down to $700 on CL and I had him down to $450. He ended up selling it for $700 to someone that contacted him before me. Looking back I really missed a deal cause I ain't finding really much in my size and price. I need a bike that's at least a 58cm. So lesson learned, don't play around and if you run across a good bike as your first bike you've seen, BUY IT! (jk)
Good luck!
