If you insist. It's pretty cool that the SF Giants provide bicycle valet parking at their games. http://www.sfbike.org/?giants

Had to look through the links to find out what sort of game it is. But that cycle park at the giants looks a fantastic idea. One way to cut traffic to the game.

But I have never understood how the US can get so excited about a game that appears to have it's origins in a game we have in the UK called rounders. Must be something extra to it like the giant cokes and hotdogs that is all I have ever understood on any TV coverage of the game over here. Do they serve Pie aswell?

Today is the twentieth anniversary of the Toronto Blue Jays World Series win. They capped that by winning again in 93, and then the wheels sorta fell off.

It's the only game that you can play and take a nap at the same time.

Alternatively, its best played with a Keg positioned behind second base ;)

It's the only game that you can play and take a nap at the same time.

For the sports fan of today, that may well be true.

The game became America's game during a different era; one before TV, when the radio was king. That is still where I find it belongs, more than any other sport. With a good announcer the game comes alive on the radio and it is with great joy I look forward to my time either tinkering in the garage on my motorcycle or bikes with the Giants on the radio or barbequing in the back yard listening to a game.

It really moves at a wonderful pace. Not a frenzied pace, rather a pace to be savored and enjoyed. The only way the game is better is going to spring training. That is the way sports should be played. Small parks, cheap admission, food and drink. You can even talk to the players. In late innings the players still on the bench go into the outfield and workout as the game is going on. Sunshine, cheap food and beer, and no one really cares if they win or lose. March, no better month for professional baseball.

As Carlin said,” how can you not love a game where the goal is to go home?”

And then ... they cancelled the season because 2 Canadian teams were poised to meet in the World Series (Montreal + Toronto).

I've been driving past this spherical tank in the Marathon Oil tank farm at the south end of the Rouge River bridge in Detroit for a great many years. Over the years, it has alternately been painted up like a baseball or a basketball.
Might be due for a makeover.

What is this thread doing in this forum? It has nothing to do with cycling, or with being over 50. If it belongs anywhere it belongs in foo. Let's have it moved, please.

So does anyone know if Detroit has valet parking for cyclist? And does anyone know if there is a senior discount for San Francisco's valet parking? It's pretty impressive that SF has a full 1/3 of their fans get to the stadium by public transportation and cycling combined. Wonder if that will change with the World Series?

For the series, it'll be even more public transit. We're taking the train to game 2 (and crossing that off the wife's bucket list).

Very amusing. Still zero cycling content, though. No doubt everyone would be delighted if the 50+ forum was full f threads about cricket, or australian football, or synchronised swimming, or rhythmic gymnastics.

There's a reason that there are forums for non-cycling matters. Even you old folks should have no difficulty finding your way there.

For some reason I was under the impression that pedal boats were rented in that area. Maybe I'm remembering wrong.

Just trying to keep the thread in the 50's. Sports could be considered political... or religious, depending on how hard core. It is a bike friendly venue. and Kayaks are rented near by. BART makes it near to the East Bay commuters. Looks like the rain has slid by. May get windy.

"Even you old folks"

I'm thinking you must be an interloper. So you have come to a board that's clearly intended for people who are 50+ and the first thing that you do is to try to change it. Get off my lawn!

The bicycle coalitions on that side of the Bay cover all the big games at colleges and major events with valet bike parking. SF Bicycle Coalition and Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition do many events. I can't lose in this World Series. Giants are my local team, and the Tigers are my home town team. The reason there's less riders at CM in Detroit is the entire city is more like the Bayview area of SF as far as attitude goes. Not a good idea to hassle a car driver there.

Don't worry about looking bad, you have a great manager and some of the best bats in the game.....game 2 may be much different.

Detroit is still a city? I thought it was fenced off and turned into a prison mega-complex, to save court costs of giving fair trials to each one of it's residents.
